Union Dairies – Tokai

“Our story began in 1904 when my great-great grandfather founded the Union Dairy in Cape Town. Dairy herds were established over time in Tokai and Philippi and subsequently in Darling when my great grandfather Oupa Nico and grandfather Peter senior bought the historic Groote Post farm in 1972, later adding two adjoining farms. Groote Post proved to be the ideal cool climate site for our family’s dairy, sheep and beef farming and subsequently grape farming and winemaking.”
Peter Pentz senior likes to comment on moving from the milk to the wine industry, “Nobody ever told me they like my creamy milk, as they do with the Groote Post wines”.
